UBER encendería conflicto en Costa Rica

Apenas terminaron en Costa Rica las protestas callejeras de los porteadores, ahora es probable que vengan las de los taxistas, acompañados por los operadores de servicios especiales, una vez que inicie el negocio de Uber.

Se trata de la llegada en un futuro cercano de la app para transporte personal de la empresa, que en las últimas semanas ha publicado en su propio sitio una bolsa de trabajo para el puesto de gerente de operaciones, así como otro para gerente de mercadeo en el país.

La incursión de Uber, cuyas operaciones empezaron en 2009 en San Francisco, California, ha generado polémica en los propios Estados Unidos, así como en la mayoría de las 300 ciudades alrededor del mundo en que actualmente opera, más que todo porque el servicio no paga por el permiso de brindar el servicio de transporte personal.

En Costa Rica, los taxis, así como los servicios especiales, este año pagan unos $190 al año por la concesión, mientras el bus paga $760.
“Esa figura no existe en el país, por lo que si intentaran trabajar bajo esas condiciones sería totalmente ilegal”, dijo Edwin Barboza, gerente general de Fenacootaxi.

Por otra parte, Uber es bien visto por varias personas en este país, incluso por más del 80% de los lectores consultados por el periódico La República, de acuerdo con un sondeo celebrado el viernes pasado.
